China 1/2.7" M12 lens Manufacturers, Suppliers, Factory

A dash camera may appear to be a straightforward imaging product: point a camera through the windshield, record the road, and save the footage. In practice, the lens must handle a difficult combination of conditions. The scene can move from bright sky to a dark tunnel in seconds. Headlights can create strong highlights at night. The windshield adds another optical surface

This article outlines the full journey of optical lens manufacturing, from application analysis and optical design to prototype testing, precision manufacturing, assembly, and quality control. Each stage—material selection, coating, alignment, and MTF testing—affects final image quality. Consistency across mass production is critical; automated assembly and inspection help ensure the 10,000th lens matches the sample. Boshi Optics integrates design, molding, assembly, and testing to serve security, drone, automotive, and medical imaging applications. A reliable lens is the result of balanced engineering, not just specifications.

For procurement managers and hardware engineers planning their Q3 and Q4 production runs, the optical components supply chain is currently flashing a warning sign. While the cost of standard silica sand remains relatively stable, the specialized raw materials required for advanced machine vision and high-definition security lenses are experiencing distinct upward pressure. The culprit is not standard glass, but High-Refractive-Index (HRI) glass. As the industry demands larger apertures (F1.0) and higher resolutions (5MP to 8MP), the reliance on specialized HRI glass has skyrocketed. However, recent market data from Q1 and Q2 of 2026 indicates that the raw materials required to produce this glass are facing supply tightening and price volatility.

BOSHI Optical Technology recently completed a production process training program for new employees at its factory, covering optical lens manufacturing from raw material preparation to final inspection. The training aimed to build professional teams by combining theoretical learning with practical observation across key processes like precision machining, injection molding, coating, and MTF testing. Supported by 18,000㎡ facilities and 300+ staff, BOSHI strengthens its manufacturing foundation to deliver reliable optical solutions for security, automotive, and medical applications.

In the world of Edge AI—whether we're talking about an AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) navigating a complex warehouse or a high-end surveillance system running real-time facial recognition—there is a dangerous myth. The myth is that "we can fix it in the software." I’ve sat in too many meetings where brilliant R&D engineers treat the lens as a passive window. They assume that as long as they have a 5MP or 8MP sensor and a powerful NPU (Neural Processing Unit), the AI will "figure it out." Actually, let’s look at it from a different perspective—my perspective as an optical engineer. The lens isn't a window; it is your AI’s first hardware pre-processor. If you feed "garbage" photons into a high-end sensor, your AI is forced to waste precious compute cycles trying to clean up the mess. Here is why optics are your first firewall against AI failure.

Smart parking systems need more than cameras—they need the right lenses. Explore three essential surveillance lenses from Shanghai Silk Optical designed for coverage, AI recognition, and low-light performance.
